Tony and I worked closely for 6 years while he was in Barbados. During those years he was my mentor and played a pivotal role in my personal development. Our relationship grew into a close friendship which never crossed the professional lines. We enjoyed many casual times together, especially when he and Bev joined my family and friends for lunch at the seaside whenever we were there. He so enjoyed those breaks and eagerly looked forward to them. We remained in contact over the many years after he left Barbados; calls which had no particular reason but just to check on each other. I spoke with him just weeks before his unfortunate illness. I think it was on that call that I told him that in all the time we have been in touch I had never told him thanks for what he had done for me. His response was uplifting!
Tony loved his family and was deeply devoted to Bev. There was a marked change in his conversations after she passed, and he constantly remarked how much he missed her.
Many staff of Scotiabank in Barbados fondly remember Mr Allen and considered him to be a great manager who cared about their welfare. He was a fine example of what a leader should be. He was knowledgeable and spared no effort in passing on what he knew.
On behalf of my family and on my own behalf I extend sincere condolences to Tami and Chrissy and their families.
May he rest in peace
