I trust that the knowledge of how much Eleanor was loved and appreciated, go some small way towards dulling the pain and grief that is yours. She was my doctor while I lived in Nassau and a dear ( Jamaican) supporter

Hello. I pray that GOD will keep Dr. Fung Chung-Walkine’s family at this time. She was my former doctor years ago…one of the best doctors I have ever dealt with. She showed genuine care and love for me as a patient of hers. She always gave affordable care, and again, she showed “genuine concern.” I pray that other doctors in the Bahamas will learn from her examples shown. Again, I wish you, her entire family the best and pray that GOD will continuously keep each of you. But always remember, she was one of the best doctors, and definetly one of the best human being I have ever met. GOD bless!!! Regards, Dr. Patrice Juliet Pinder.
Sincere condolences to Dr. Fung Chung- Walkine’s family. Doctor Fung Chung was a First Rate / First Class Physician. She was my doctor for many years here in Nassau, and I am deeply saddened by the passing of this brilliant Physician Dr. E. Fung

I send my condolences to Dr. Fung-Chung – Walkine’s loved ones who mourn her loss. She was my Doctor when I lived in Nassau, and took excellent care of me. Her kindness knew no bounds. She took care of my ills, heard my confidences and always checked in to ensure that I was recovering.

I pray that her soul rests in peace.May God heal the hearts of those who mourn.
I offer condolences to the family of my doctor and friend, Dr Eleanor Fung Chung. When she was in St Mary, Jamaica, we used to talk a lot . Up to a few months ago she called to offer love and condolences on the passing of my beloved husband, A. C. Williams. After a time, I could not get her on the phone, but had no idea something was wrong. Needless to say, I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of her passing. A gentle soul. A genuine friend. A professional medical doctor. It was always a pleasurable encounter, whether as a patient/ doctor, or just a casual conversation. She will be greatly missed. Loving thoughts and prayers for her loved ones. Rest in eternal peace, dear friend.

As a Family Doctor her expertise & care was unmatched. A great friend who was a great listener and unparalleled confidant. She was a an excellent conversationalist with an extensive repertoire of Jamaican folktales, jokes & riddles which she shared with ease, grace & humor. She will be greatly missed. So sad to hear of Eleanor’s passing. We were classmates at St Mary High. That was quite some time ago. We connected a few years back. We had a great conversation and was able to catch up with each other lives. I am grateful for that opportunity and will always remember our conversation. Life can be so fleeting and so we have to make the most of the opportunities of connecting as they present themselves. My heartfelt condolences to her family as they mourn her passing. I want to concentrate on the celebration of life and her achievements. Fond memories will help to soothe the loss that we all are experiencing. RIP my sister.

My condolences to the family of
Dr Eleanor Fung Chung-Walkine. Eleanor was one of those persons who could connect with someone with great ease.
We started attending
St. Mary High School the same year.
She spearheaded and worked with a team of her old high schoolmates to campaign and collect funds to purchase computers for our Alma Mater. With her great determination the campaign was a big success and the goal was achieved. It was during that fundraising event that we renewed our friendship. We talked on the phone and sent numerous text messages sharing so many jokes or just catching up.
Eleanor expressed a great love for quilting. She wanted to teach this love of quilting to young people so she could share her love for the craft.
She is gone but she will never be forgotten.
It is so heartbreaking and sad for me to write this tribute to honor and celebrate her life. My condolences to Eleanor’s family.
May she Rest In Peace.
I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Over the last few years Eleanor has regularly rung me up in England to check that we are OK and always wanting to have a long chat. She was very kind and thoughtful. She and Zachary visited my wife and me about ten years ago and we had a day out together in Kent. I knew Eleanor because for two years (1968-70) I was her chemistry teacher at St Mary High School. I took some pride in having been the teacher of someone who became such a successful family doctor! My condolences to all her family and friends. I pray that they will find the true and lasting comfort that comes from the God of all comfort.
Dr. Fung Chung-Walkine will be missed. May her family and friends be consoled for such a great loss. Please accept sincere condolences from the McLaughlin family. May God be with us all.

Dr. Fung Chung was a gentle and soft spoken and caring physician. Her professionalism was accompanied by that twinkling eye and sweet smile that gave immediate comfort and inspired confidence. In her office, one was made immediately comfortable to the point of feeling as close as possible to her passion for decorating, sewing, cooking and certainly her love for her son and daughter of whom she spoke glowingly. I feel her loss as she had so much to offer to others. May her soul rest in peace.

I visited her as a medical representative for 13 years and there was never a time that she wasn’t receptive and warm. I recall her giving me tips on plant care to relay to my mother and sharing stories of Jamaica. May she rest in eternal peace.
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Dr. Fung-Chung Walkine. I was a patient of hers for many years. She was such a kind, thoughtful and attentive doctor. She always took the time to listen to me and I never felt rushed out of her office. She would listen to all my concerns and was always reassuring. Tributes to Dr. Eleanor Theresa Fung Chung-Walkine,
From medical class of 80
My Dear Classmates,
It’s been 46 years since we first met.
Our lives have never been the same since.
Our youth and innocence have passed.
Wisdom and purpose prevailed.
Indeed, says Shakespeare, Time is the king of all men, he is their parent and their grave, and gives them what he will and not what they crave.
We enter into the twilight of our lives:
We share in the achievements of our children,
And relish in the arrival of our grandchildren and the endless joys they bring, just looking at them.
And yet, every morning as we wake to start to start a new day, we feel those pains of old age.
Our pharmacy product line beckons.
I am reminded of the Charles Dickens favorite in a Tale of Two Cities:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
I forward to you my precious classmates, the obituary of our dear friend Eleanor.
The photographs say it all.
One picture speaks a thousand words.
They rekindle those memories of 1975 to 1980.
Shouting and screaming.
We smile. A warm feeling wets our soul.
Let us romance to the song of the Al Greene epic, For The Good Times.
Don’t look so sad
I know it’s over
But life goes on
And this world keeps on turning, yeah
Let’s just be glad
We have this time to spend together
There is no need
To watch the bridges that we’re burning
Lay your head (lay your head)
On my pillow, sweet baby
Hold your warm (and tender body) and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the raindrops
Blowin’ softly against my window
Oh, late at night
(Make believe) make believe you love me
(Make believe) one more time
For the good times
For the good times
I’ll get along
And I’m sure you’ll find another
But baby, please remember
I’ll be here (I’ll be here)
I’m gonna stay right here
And if you should ever find you need me, yeah
Don’t say a word about tomorrow
Ahh, forever and ever and ever and ever
There’ll be time enough for severance, when you leave me
For the good times, oh yeah
For the good times
Lay your head (lay your head)
On my pillow
Oh, this is one time girl (one time)
Hold your warm (and tender body) and tender body
Close to mine ehehehehe
Oh baby, won’t you
Hear that whisper, hear that whisper
Of the raindrops, of the raindrops
Blowin’ softly, softly
Against my window
All ya gotta do is (make believe), all ya gotta do is
Make believe you love me (make believe)
One more time, for me baby
For the good times (hey baby)
For the good times
And here’s what you ought to do
Lay your head on my pillow
I just wanna
(Hold your warm) hold your warm, hold your warm
(And tender body) and tender body
(Close to mine) close to mine
Farewell Eleanor, our beloved class mate.

Hello Robin and my other classmates,
Tears come to my eyes as i read your email and i am deeply touched by your words.
My heart aches for her loss but at the same time is filled with joy at the memories we shared with her.
I always remember Eleanor as a very sweet, pleasant, friendly and humble individual. She is truly a wonderful person.
I can only say let us stay strong and let us remain in touch. Let us appreciate and share those memories of her and others, those years together in med school were the very best years of my life to date.
Yes we are older, and wiser but as we transcend into our twilight years let us give God thanks for those memorable years of togetherness that he had blessed us with.
Let us be thankful for good health, strength and to persevere inspite of our adversaries.
I salute you all and love you all dearly.
We are a special family and we will always remain united til the very end.
To you Eleanor, I love you dearly and cherish those memories, may you RIP.
Always,
Jasmine.
Today I saw a most beautiful sunrise – the kind I would usually share with my dearest friend – but as she is now gone, in the flesh, I think I will share with you – a piece of her joy that she shared with me .
I do this from an understanding that we (Eleanor and I) shared – that between true friends – “Joy shared is doubled and trouble shared is halved” .
I implore you, see the beauty shared – listen for her voice and feel the spirit of its melody .

Hello Alverston and classmates:
I am grateful to be connected with you all once again, despite the nature of this email. It is so sad to know that several of our classmates have died within recent weeks.
I have fond memories of Jephthah, Wayne and Eleanor, and would episodically hear of their valued contributions to the medical field.
No words can minimize the loss that their families feel, but the memories, respect and friendliness that we express as colleagues, can help.
Let’s hope we will be able to meet again in a safer time.
Sincerely,
Norma (Saunders)
