WINSTON WALTER VARENCE

Aged 88 years

WINSTON WALTER VARENCE WAS ONE OF TWO CHILDREN BORN TO THE LATE HOWARD ARTHUR VARENCE AND THE LATE CHARLOTTE MARIETTA VARENCE, NEE BROWNRIGG, ON 15TH JANUARY 1933 IN OLD BIGHT, CAT ISLAND.

WINSTON WAS A CONSUMMATE BANKER WITH OVER 50 YEARS OF BANKING/TRUST EXPERIENCE. HE WORKED AT NUMEROUS INSTITUTIONS INCLUDING CITITRUST WITH HIS LAST PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT BEING BANK OF NEW PROVIDENCE TRUST, AS TRUST OFFICER.  HE OBTAINED NUMEROUS CERTIFICATES IN BANKING OVER THE COURSE OF HIS CAREER.

WINSTON, AFFECTIONATELY CALLED “SLIM” WAS AN AVID SPORTSMAN PARICIPATING IN BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL. IN HIS EARLIER YEARS, HE HAD A STINT WITH PHOTOGRAPHY,

WINSTON, A YEAR BEFORE THE ONSET OF THE DEADLY COVID 19 VIRUS, RELIGIOUSLY SPENT MORNINGS AT MCDONALDS WITH THE GROUP CALLED THE BREAKFAST CLUB, WITH THE LIKES OF THE LATE GENE TOOTE, THE LATE SIR ARLINGTON BUTLER, MR. J. HENRY BOSTWICK, AND OTHER FRIENDS.

HE WAS ALSO A PART OF THE ARAWAK CAY AND SAME OLE PLACE CREW.

WINSTON TOOK HIS SPIRITUAL FLIGHT ON MONDAY, 20TH SEPTEMBER 2021 AT APPROXIMATELY 1:30 AM.  HE PEACEFULLY DEPARTED THIS EARTH SURROUNDED BY HIS TWO DAUGHTERS.

WINSTON LEAVES TO MOURN HIS PASSING,YET CHERISH HIS MEMORIES, A DEVOTED WIFE: JOYCELYN VARENCE; THREE CHILDREN: DENISE BEAUDOT, TANYA BONAMY, AND MICHELLE FINLAYSON; TWO SONS-IN-LAW: STEPHANE BEAUDOT AND STEVE BONAMY; 5 GRANDCHILDREN: STEPHEN BEAUDOT, GARET WINSTON-VARENCE FINLAYSON, MICHAELA BONAMY, SHAWN BEAUDOT AND ANASTACIA BEAUDOT; 1 SISTER: STEPHANIE VARENCE; SISTERS-IN-LAW: DELORES INGRAHAM, NICOLE CAMPBELL, ERNESTINE MILLER, ANGARITA MILLER AND ANITA MILLER; BROTHERS-IN-LAW:  RT. HON. HUBERT A INGRAHAM AND DREXWILL MILLER;  A HOST OF NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS, OTHER RELATIVES AND SORROWING FRIENDS INCLUDING: GARET (TIGER) FINLAYSON, JOSEPH AND KAREN FEASTE AND TERRENCE CARTWRIGHT.

A private memorial service will be held in honour of Mr. Varence for the family on Sunday 3rd, October.  A condolence book will be available to relatives and friends for signing on Friday 1st, October from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
